My review

What can I say about this book? To describe it in one simple sentence, it’s a very intense emotional rollercoaster ride. This is a true guide to not only IT employees but to everyone who are stressed out (even home makers) by their pressures of workload and are not able to find time to pursue their dreams/hobbies. The book gives advice on stability and practicality to the readers. Don’t say “I want happiness”, remove the words I want, you are now left with happiness. This is told by the author in a simplest manner possible in the 252 pages long book.

About the main characters

The Guru with Guitar is a thought provoking, very inspiring story about Viktor who is a chartered accountant by profession working in USA. He is experiencing certain difficulties in life, he believes his boss also hates him. His mind and heart is not in sync.So he is always anxious, stressed out and has fear of hurting people unintentionally and he is too absorbed in his work (to escape from the world) so he doesn’t have time for any chit-chats even with his colleagues who see him on a daily basis then think about his mother and his best friends who live in India. He is someone who likes to uplift the spirits of others but he can’t uplift his own because he thinks too much.

What he should do with his life is a question he keeps on pondering. He forgets many simple things life has to offer due to this unnecessary stress. When did his sign of depression start is not mentioned clearly in the book. But I figured it out on my own. At that time in India, he paid a deaf and mute boy Rs.500 (bought pens), and his colleague said the boy was acting, he says ‘I know when I am being fooled.’ It is evident Viktor is indeed a very intelligent guy who knows whom to trust and who will have answers to all his questions about life that many of us find it silly.

Kimberly alias Kim enters (he allows) into his world, she makes him forget all his worries and frustrations. She lends him her helping hand when nobody in the office including his colleague friend, Christine failed to do so. He is someone who needed immediate attention and care. It is very evident from the way he behaves. He has a habit of forgetting important things in life such as wishing his mother on her birthday, talking to his best friends on phone, partying with his colleagues, etc due to depression.

He could have messaged or wished his mother when he was busy sending motivational quotes to his colleagues yet we can’t blame him because he has stress-related problems he has a need to please. So thank goodness Kim came like an angel. At first, he is a bit hesitant, eventually he confides in her, she then encourages him and strengthens him to find his true purpose of life. They have same wavelength, by which I mean both have lost someone who played an important role in their life-for Kim, both her parents died when she was young while Viktor has lost his father at the age of 16.Kim likes receiving quotes, and he likes creating them.

In short,we can find answers to these questions. If you are a know it all, get inspired by a different point of view.

Should we give up our dreams to pursue the dream that our parents have for us(Amber)?
Did his relationship with Kimberly is a success or failure?
Who can be called best friends?
Who is a true preacher?
How can we turn our failures into success?
Did Viktor publish his second novel?
How did he find true happiness and who helped him?
The most important thing is, the author has given a brilliant answer to the bugging question, “Why does God give chronic diseases like cancer to young children and what did they do wrong?”

Is Kimberly and Viktor made for each other?

In my POV Viktor pretends to listen to her as he is attracted to her blonde hair and immersed in her beauty, she on the other hand to his dark eyes. Both have lost people who were precious to them-character wise their wavelength is somewhat same. Kim was just a friend who made Viktor realize what he must do with his life. I would say his mother, Mrs. Elissa, and his best friends Rahul and Richa are the ones behind his success as they stood like a rock and they know him well enough to support him up and take it easy. Instead of confiding in a stranger like Kimberly he could have asked them for help but he didn’t. He is also initially afraid what other people will think as he hasn't called them for many years. He needed an emotional support and true understanding from a woman who makes him to come out of his cocoon and he got it.It was actually the young lad whom he met in India hes is where he is now.He was just unaware.

In the beginning of the novel, I felt Kim is not the right person for him but Amber is(She is rough and tough, always on the alert, not afraid to speak what is on her mind, this is a relationship where eyes alone can do the talk, she is also quick in understanding people) because when Viktor wrote a beautiful poem when he was leaving for Japan and asked her to give to the one she loves, she feels her love is one sided and her ego emerges and in the spur of the moment, she says to her cousin sitting in the cafeteria, I can love for both sides. In short, she is too slow to understand. Read the last stanza of the poem.It doesn’t address a guy, why doesn’t she have the common sense(slow in understanding) to understand she can’t give this card to a guy and why she doesn't understand he may love her in the future.

O girl, O girl, O…O…girl…you be mine…
You are more than this rose to me…
You be my…Valentine.
Just be mine…O O…Valentine!!!

But this opinion of mine was short-lived. Kim is really a sweet person and she is a boon to him, she cannot hurt even an insect. Viktor and Kim come from a decent, well educated family that's all matters.Life is not all roses, problems and difficulties arises in their lives too, how they utilize it as an opportunity to grow is written marvelously.

Guru with Guitar doesn't suit the novel. Viktor plays Guitar in the second half of the story but this novel is about the life lessons he learned during the course of his journey and how he became a motivational speaker.

“Life is like a guitar. Tune. Play. Repeat,” The book description does justice to the title. We can take it in any we want.Like if you are a painter or enjoy making crafts, you will be able to have a clear understanding of the message the author stresses.

Supporting characters

Christine, Amber, their parents, Viktor's mother, Rahul alias Rahu, Richa and Mrs.Elissa.They all inspired me in their own way. Particularly the scene where he bought license to start a school for underprivileged children in India and gives to his mother who needed it to fulfill her husband's wish.

We all have heard this famous proverb, “Too much of anything is good for nothing” and how many of us actually know what it truly means? If you read the book, you might know it just like I learned. Seriously speaking, Viktor has so many talents that is why he was not able to find peace of mind and happiness. He can pursue any job he wants at any time.He is good at writing poems and creating songs, he is good at playing guitar, he is talented in writing motivational quotes, etc.He has so much to offer to the world. He doesn't know where to start.May be if you read the book, you may have different views and opinions. The first two poems and the rose song he wrote to Kimberly touched my heart. Hindi was a compulsory subject until my fifth grade, so i could understand the hindi songs a little.

WOW quotes

“Gentle reminder! Smile please.”

“Decide. What do you want? Life full of years or years full of life. Now.”

Joy is temporary, happiness is permanent; for it comes out from positive a mind and is an art of a tension free heart.

Right is right no matter how wrong the time is.

May your profit and loss account of humane deeds be in profits;for you have to present you Balance Sheet on the Judgement day.

“Your date of birth is just the time you begin to exist,  and life only truly begins the day you realize what you’re here for.”

Every today has a better version called tomorrow.

Bless for you never stopped learning.

Let the pain of past not ruin the happiness of present and dreams of future. Move on.

Thinking in loneliness and speaking in public are the two things leaders are masters at.

Friends understand the unsaid words, no matter if they are silent for years.

“Good people won’t do bad to you if you hurt them.They’ll just be neutral and walk away, with a experience and a lesson;

To grow up be a kid again. The Sanskrit saying goes like this," Genius is one who is taking his child to his old age".

I have a different god.I see it in the smile of others. My worship is to make people happy.Love is my religion.

“Life goes on…no matter you are happy or not…no matter you want someone to be happy or not.So happiness is a choice.”

“Don’t just sit and read the quote of the day; implement it.”

This is just a handful of quotes. There are totally 111 life changing quotes in the novel.

Rating  4/5

My verdict The novel gives contentment and a meaning to live differently to all those stressed out, busy individuals who don't know why they are running and for who they are running. You can get educated and take a level headed approach towards life or surround yourself with such people so you can become like them.Being intelligent is having good company and having empathy for the unfortunate is what i learned from Viktor.

Disclosure I received this book as a gift from the author. This is my honest opinion about the book and i mean it.

The Sound of Water: A Psychology of the Soul

My take on the book

First of all, I have to thank the author for gifting this wonderful book.It came to me at the right time.So I didn't waste a single day to read.Psychology is my favorite subject and I desperately wanted to know what I find inside the book will be helpful for my soul or not. When I began reading, I was immediately attracted to the words found in it. For instance, the introductory notes to the readers, then from the first chapter to the last chapter.I would say, the author's research for seven years didn't go waste.

The book creates peace of mind, I was able to learn so many things such as ego, culture, lost souls vs pure souls, universal laws of mind, social construct, family authorities, etc.I had hard time understanding Ontological Field Theory , thought it was simple.A physics student will be able to understand it as it is , is my humble opinion. The words were crystal clear but the only problem is the hindrance in communication.I have underlined most of my favorite quotes in pencil, you can consider I have been blind all these years and now I feel I woke from coma.My suggestion to the author is why prelude, interlude and postlude cannot be put in as one chapter. It's an imaginary story and the introduction was not necessary. Some of the pages, I just skipped reading after having a glance as I didn't find it very helpful.

The author asked me to say my thoughts on the book pertaining to Hinduism, I would say this book can be read by other religions also unless the author sticks to the word What is pure soul, what is lost souls. He can quote, there was once a man who had pure soul and list his qualities.Spirituality in general. He need not explain in detail about pure soul just about lost souls.Remove reference to Christianity entirely.Talking about Humanity alone is enough.Empathy for fellow humans is missing in this world.Love, peace and Harmony is missing.Somebody is selfish, these three cannot be attained.Selfish persons are also lost souls is what I mean.

We see many beggars(old and young) on the street, orphanage children and old age people, deaf and dump people, disabled people, the question I want to ask is do they all have love and peace of mind.So do we.Love and peace of mind fluctuates now and then according to time, place and situations. There are lakhs of people who have wealth to support the above people and uplift their spirit but everyone wants love, peace and harmony only with their family, friends, neighbors and acquaintances. This is an unhealthy culture. There is a bible verse, enjoy as much as you like without sin.I agree to this.Whether people who say proudly they are christians have sinned or not or they just want to enjoy as much they like by sinning. The jungle rule-kill or be killed applies to the world.

My verdict  I put my heart and mind in writing this opinion of mine. This is a good book that's enough reason to buy.

My review

What a wonderful story.I found myself finish reading it in one sitting. The story follows Ravi Raj Nambiar, a divorcee who divorced his wife four years ago(the mistake totally falls on his ex-wife) and is now searching for a prospective wife who can be a mentor to his children than a doting mother as his children will not accept anyone as mother that easily. His main concern is his daughter, Rajita who is just 8 years old.She is at a crucial stage of her life. That is why she needs to be pampered and cared for well.

Ravi Raj Nambiar alias Raj who registered himself on IDM, that is Indian Divorcee Matrimony finds many women interested in him throughout the story.First, he approves a proposal from a woman from Jammu followed by a woman in Bhopal. He is left with a choice of selecting one woman who can be added to his family. Then in a twist of events, he is flooded with two other proposals too.One from an annoying woman and another from a mysterious woman. He becomes confused what to do next as it is a tricky situation for all the four women are keenly interested in him.He makes choices that he should be ashamed of.The story piques readers at this point of time.

As a reader, I was very intererested in Raj marrying Anjali and living a happily ever after life. She was such a sweet, lovely, adorable woman who has a voice of the child.I was able to relate to her absolutely. All the other women who wanted to enter his life were all selfish in some form.I simply couldn't understand them and their reasons any better. One of the woman's approach was love at first sight upon seeing his photo on the matrimonial site.It was hardly believable.I 100% thought she must have some strong motive. But it was quite a surprise, there wasn't any.The ending was sad.

On the whole, the story was entertaining as well as educating about the different emotions of people.Chase of choices had all the right elements to be called a fantastic story. The characters were all well sketched and it was a real page turner.Kudos to the author for producing such a rattling good story.

Amnesty Excerpt

Blurb #1
If closing my heart were as easy as closing my eyes, I’d never see again. Heaven and earth could pass away and I wouldn’t know, wouldn’t care. Instead, I open my eyes to my face filling the mirror, trying not to really look, but I do. I see my mom’s eyes, so blue they were nearly black in striking contrast to her golden hair. My dad’s sweetheart face shape, though his had a stronger jaw. I only see their faces in mine now, and maybe I’m imagining it, trying not to forget. My hand quivers before I press my finger to my lips and smooth gloss over them. Knowing my eyeliner would smear if I gave in to thinking about my parents, I distract myself to think of something else—the music blasting from the hall, the slight hum from the lights around the mirror, the smell of beer tainting the masses Reece and I burrowed through to get to the upstairs bathroom. Breathing. Think about breathing.

Reece pulls the shirt down over her head, then shakes out her hair, twisting toward me. “What do you think, Cassie?” Like always, she’s changing as soon as we get to the party, having shopped in my closet before school. The flowy blouse has three triangular cutouts along the front and more in the back, definitely putting it in the sexy category, which is why I own it and not Reece. Her mom would have a breakdown if she saw the clothes her daughter really likes to wear—and her mom thinks I’m the bad influence. The royal blue makes Reece’s eye color pop and her face more vibrant—natural beauty the rest of us work hard to fake.

“Amazing, which is what I told you when you talked me into buying it.”

“Trade you for my riding boots.” She’s already sitting on the toilet lid, pulling them off.

“Deal.” I sit on the side of the tub and kick off my ankle boots. “Remember when we had friendship bracelets in seventh grade?”

“Yeah. Now we have friendship boots.” Stepping her heel into the second boot she asks, “Is Hugh coming?”

“Don’t know.” Don’t want to see him since he dumped me today.” My hand drifts to my stomach, but as soon as I notice I pull it away, not sure where to put it. I’m not telling Reece until the morning—why ruin the evening for both of us? My plan is to party tonight and sort it out tomorrow.

Reece steps to my side, looking at my eyes in the mirror. “Why don’t you know?”

“I just don’t. He messed up. Or I blew it. Who cares—we aren’t talking anymore—it’s over.”

Thinking if I begin digging through my purse, maybe she’ll drop it, I pull my bag into the sink and rummage around.

“Like you broke up?” Her face looks sad, devastated, as if my breakup with Hugh would be as traumatic as a breakup between her and Korbin. “Maybe you’ll get back together tonight.”

My face makes a grimace before I can stop it. “So not happening. We weren’t all lovey, like some couple I know. I barely liked him.” Reece begins to open her mouth. I imagine she would make some encouraging comment like, “It takes time.”

But before she speaks up, I finish, “It’s too late now.” Hoping that closes the subject, I begin straightening my shirt. I’m not ready to talk about how much of a disaster that relationship has become.

She hugs me and whispers, “It’s never too late for love.”

When I fake a gag reflex, she punches my shoulder.

Blog Tour ~King Arthur's sister in Washington's court & $25 giveaway

Book Description

KASIWC_ebook_1600x2400Morgan le Fay, 6th-century Queen of Gore and the only major character not killed off by Mark Twain in A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, vows revenge upon the Yankee Hank Morgan. She casts a spell to take her to 1879 Connecticut so she may waylay Sir Boss before he can travel back in time to destroy her world. But the spell misses by 300 miles and 200 years, landing her in the Washington, D.C., of 2079, replete with flying limousines, hovering office buildings, virtual-reality television, and sundry other technological marvels.

Whatever is a time-displaced queen of magic and minions to do? Why, rebuild her kingdom, of course—two kingdoms, in fact: as Campaign Boss for the reelection of American President Malory Beckham Hinton, and as owner of the London Knights world-champion baseball franchise.

Written as though by the old master himself, King Arthur’s Sister in Washington’s Court by Mark Twain as channeled by Kim Iverson Headlee offers laughs, love, and a candid look at American society, popular culture, politics, baseball...and the human heart.

Kim Iverson Headlee 1500x2237
Author Biography

Kim Headlee lives on a farm in southwestern Virginia with her family, cats, goats, Great Pyrenees goat guards, and assorted wildlife. People and creatures come and go, but the cave and the 250-year-old house ruins—the latter having been occupied as recently as the mid-twentieth century—seem to be sticking around for a while yet.

Kim is a Seattle native and a direct descendent of twentieth-century Russian nobility. Her grandmother was a childhood friend of the doomed Grand Duchess Anastasia, and the romantic yet tragic story of how Lydia escaped Communist Russia with the aid of her American husband will most certainly one day fuel one of Kim's novels. Another novel in the queue will involve her husband's ancestor, the seventh-century proto-Viking king of the Swedish colony in Russia.

For the time being, however, Kim has plenty of work to do in creating her projected 8-book Arthurian series, The Dragon's Dove Chronicles, and other novels under her imprint Pendragon Cove Press.

Praise for the Book

“Packed with politics, pop culture, sports, business, time travel, magic, deceit, humor and love, this story will keep you enthralled right up to the end. Whether you have ever read an Arthurian romance before or not, give this one a try. I am sure you will love it as much as I did.” ~ Dottie of Romance Junkies

“KASIWC is irresistible, passionate, and intriguing. Definitely check out this amazing new Arthurian Romance!” ~ Jill of Arthurian Romances

EXCERPT (from A Word of Explanation; ~150 words)

ALL CALL ME Queen. For my unparalleled skills in leechcraft, most call me “The Wise.” No man dares call me “le Fay,” lest he die.

I hight Morgan.

That is to say, my name is Morgan, so chosen by my mother, Duchess Igraine, to honor the Great Queen of the Old Religion, Mór Rigan, goddess of war. My mother never knew how prophetic her choice would prove to be.

I am the daughter of Duke Gorlois, the sister of Queen Margawse and Queen Elaine, the wife of King Uriens of Gore, and the mother of Sir Uwaine of the Table Round. Blessed good fortune made me all of these things.

By the capricious hand of ill fortune, King Arthur became my younger half brother, spawned upon my most virtuous and blameless mother by that demon in man’s raiment, Uther Pendragon.

I despised Arthur from the very hour of his birth.

Book Description

The List. That Signified Finality.
The Journey. That Would Span The Globe.
The Sacrifice. That Would Decide The Outcome.
The Choice. That Could Unleash Evil On Earth.
The End Is Only The Beginning...

“You have terminal cancer.”
London Patterson, a seemingly healthy young woman, had her entire life ahead of her. That was until four little words brought everything to a screeching halt. As the shock and grief begin to fade, London decides to map out her last year and embark on an epic journey to complete a bucket list. She wants to do the things she’s been afraid to do in her life, step out of her self-contained box, and see the world. What she didn’t expect was for a mysterious stranger named Adam to breeze into her life like a breath of fresh air.
Adam offers to help London complete her list on one condition…that she sees it through to the end. Agreeing on those terms, the two set out on an adventure of a lifetime. But London soon realizes that Adam isn’t quite…human. Along their journey odd occurrences happen that cause London to question who or what Adam is and why he’s helping her.
Follow London as she checks off her bucket list in this inspiring new Urban Fantasy novel from Taylor Dawn.

My review

No one can save London Patterson because of the fact she is a cancer patient. One thing is sure, her life is timed. She can’t undergo chemotherapy or radiation treatment even if she does it will not be of much help to her.It proves that she has crossed that stage where she can get cured and live a normal life like the others. As she is going to die for sure, she prepares a bucket list to do before her time on earth is over. Her doctor says she has barely a year in her hands, so whatever she wants to do, whatever she needs to do, she better do it now .She wishes to do something she can be proud of .

She undertakes the journey of doing everything that is on her bucket list.Adam, a complete stranger offers her his assistance when he came to know about it by chance. At first, she says she doesn’t need his help but she later she accepts. He doesn’t know about her cancer or does he?Without prying and asking too much questions to her, he jumps right into business and helps her strike off one deed at a time by encouraging her to finish up the task at hand.Which is odd taking into account the people we barely know don’t help us that easily, if they do, they have plenty of questions to shoot at us.

There’s some more to the story which will keep the readers more intrigued and say, “wow”.When I came to know about Adam’s giant secret, I was surprised as well and excited to know what is going to happen next and how the book is going to end.It was a hilarious take if you ask me. A much needed turning point as the story was becoming too predictable for me with London’s disease and her bucket list.

The novel takes us into a ride that we have never imagined before. The story is fresh and very inspiring. If a physician tells me I have cancer and I am going to die within a year, I will have a panic attack at first and then cry and cry for how many hours and days. But London is different. She takes everything in her stride, has fun, jokes often and attempts to live her life to the fullest with her bucket list.

When reading the book I didn’t feel like she has a disease at all.In the second half, where she meets Caine(suspense), that’s when I felt very sorry for her.She longs to live so bad. When a short cut to happiness is kept on her table, who would deny.Certainly not me even if it means I have to kill someone. This is a novel no one should miss reading.A complete is.The author, Taylor Dawn takes you on an adventure you will sure enjoy.

For their two year anniversary, Brax surprises Tess with a romantic trip to Mexico. Sandy beaches, delicious cocktails, and soul-connecting sex set the mood for a wonderful holiday. With a full heart, and looking forward to a passion filled week, Tess is on top of the world.

But lusty paradise is shattered.

Kidnapped. Drugged. Stolen. Tess is forced into a world full of darkness and terror.

Captive and alone with no savior, no lover, no faith, no future, Tess evolves from terrified girl to fierce fighter. But no matter her strength, it can’t save her from the horror of being sold.

Can Brax find Tess before she’s broken and ruined, or will Tess’s new owner change her life forever?

A New Adult Dark Contemporary Romance, not suitable for people sensitive to grief, slavery, and nonconsensual sex. A story about finding love in the strangest of places, a will of iron that grows from necessity, and forgiveness that may not be enough

My review

Tears of Tess is about a twenty year old college girl named Tess Snow. She lives in Australia with her boyfriend of two years. Brax is his name. He surprises her with a vacation in Mexico for the just two of them. On the course of their visits in canon, Brax gets beaten up by traffickers. From there, the story gains momentum. Tess is kidnapped by the traffickers and she attempts hard to escape from them.

When she is taken to their place, she learns there are more young girls like her kidnapped. Luckily for her, she is sold to a young man called  Q. Though she doesn’t like him at first, she knows she is safe there. She has got a new friend too. This may not make her happy, deep in her heart she knows well if she had been sold to some other person, she could have been ruined. She learns Q is a gentleman eventually.

He frees her only to realize she wants to stay. Will Q allow that? If Brax comes to know about the relationship she shared with Q, what will his reactions be?

To be honest, I didn’t like Tess character from the beginning. Her sexual libido’s especially. Brax seemed like a very nice guy. Let me be frank, she didn’t deserve a great guy like Brax. After she was sold to Q, she should be hating him but all she did was love him. She didn’t mean it literally but that was the truth. She fawned over him. She desperately needed him so much.

It occurred to me even though she was sold by others, she wanted to be a slut that bad. She proved it by wanting him. The sex scenes could have been reduced and more scenes about Tess and her boyfriend, what made them tick and or what made Q and Tess tick would have been wiser. The sex scenes between her and Q didn’t make sense at many places. I felt it to be lame.

What I liked? Brax character. He was such a lovely sweetheart. I also happen to like Q’s character. There are certain scenes in which he acted like a total jerk, then how did Tess act around him? He didn’t do anything hard on her after all.She should have been nicer.Brax character fits perfectly into the story. Like Tess said, he should be with Bianca. Their relationship is justified.

What I didn’t like? Throughout the story, Q calls Tess, eslave which is a French word, meaning , slave in English. Whenever he said that word I wanted to slap him. Tess calls him, ‘master’ this also I didn’t like a bit. Quite naturally, if Q just sends her to Brax when she came to his house will have turned out to be good for everyone involved.

Then where is the fun? Q confesses, he liked her from the start. The story behind the tattoo, sparrow was marvelous. Q has untold secrets. What is going to happen Tess saying her name?Nothing. This made me annoying. She could say it.Tears of Tess didn't melt me.Overall, the novel was unputdownnable. I sat during the night and finished it in one sitting.

“This book provided a wonderful bonding experience for me and my daughter. As parents we always think we know how our child is doing. Then we get into a deep conversation and realize that compared to what we thought, they are doing either so much better or are suffering so much more. But they hold those feelings back to protect us. Sometimes they fear that talking about it means more pain, but this books shows that talking is healing, especially when we know how.”
—Karrie Glazner, Mother of Three Wonderful Kids
