When another dangerous storm hits, Ryan stays by Maisie's side. She fills the missing piece in his heart, but will Ryan share his secret? Can Maisie move on from the past and learn to begin again?

My review

This novel took me by utter surprise. Unlike other romance novels I  have read, this was a very decent read. This is not an usual romance story. Yes, it is also a romance novel, there is sex but  it is not rushed into or explained very elaborately which I liked and absolutely loved reading it.

Begin Again has Maisie Scott and Ryan Tucker as the main protagonists. He is a 27 year old veterinarian and also a newbie in  Town. He meets 25 year old Maisie on the diner at where she is waitressing  and is immediately attracted to her as he senses something fishy about her because whenever he tries to put a smile upon her face she disappoints him. At some point,  they become friends. He then wants to make this friendship blossom into love and also wants to start a family with her. He can't force her to like him so he seeks help from his sister, Rose and her sister, Cady(this was new).

All the supporting characters were way too sweet and overly selfless(I was hardly able to believe). Meanwhile, I got a feeling no man in the world can be this perfect , I mean she has so many external flaws, yet he is all over her. I changed my mind in the latter half as I found out , it is his true nature being kind and generous to everyone as a person.

The first half of the novel was a complete knockout and I expected the same thing from the second half. It started off well but somewhere in the middle, I felt like it fizzled out and lost all its pace except the introduction of the great twist, Ryan's ex-girlfriend into the novel. It was shocking but I thankfully needed it as a break in the otherwise slow paced novel.

Overall, I am so happy it got a happily ever after ending. The final execution was like a fairytale. I had a rattling good experience reading it and in the future, I expect to read more of Christy Newton's novels . If she is planning to write romance novels such as these,  I would like her to write something different and would also like more humor scenes than this novel(a sample below).

Verdict I will definitely recommend to anyone who likes to read light romance novels and wants to look at it with fresh eyes.

Rating 4/5

Excerpt from the novel

The doctor says I can go tomorrow Jacob told Ryan as he turned off the TV.

Ryan pushed his hands in his pockets. "That's great. I hired a caregiver to stay with you. Her name is Stella."

A smile crossed Jacob's lips. "Maybe Stella could take my mind off Kate."

Ryan shrugged. "Stella is a sixty five year old retired nurse. Do you want me to have her give you a sponge bath? "He could barely get out the word "bath" without laughing.

Jacob rolled his eyes. "Great .Thanks,  man".

My review

As soon as I laid my eyes on the impressive hard cover of the book I couldn't wait to read it. I was very sure, the book will sound more promising than its lovely cover and the description. Once again due to my never, ever ending TBR list I had to postpone it which is a sad thing but I am now glad to say I loved the book.

Inside the book, I found all the 14 short stories and three poems to be a compelling read and I must say I was so much enthralled by some of the stories that I couldn't get it off my mind till now. I was totally immersed into reading.

My favorite short stories are Provocativeness, The Masses, A cup of coffee will do, Living in the moment and Wordy world. These are also the stories that I treasure the most.

My special likings goes to The wordy world as it was a different take on rest of the stories. It is very rare to find such imaginative and yet a meaningful one nowadays because of the new concept that happens around a kingdom where Dictionary and Thesaurus is also present for their work is to develop new, new words. We all know that thesaurus is not so popular when comparing to Dictionary. There's a story here which I don't want to reveal.

Paparazzi was another great story which I liked, it was nice but it's not my cup of tea. I should really say the author has done a fabulous job in penning down his thoughts and imagination on Poetic Expressions.

As I mentioned earlier there were three poems, if you ask me which one's my favorite I would say " Cake Batter". This poem depicts beautifully the unconditional love of a mother.

That being said, I don't want to give away too much insights so as to avoid spoilers. When I finished reading, I got a feeling that I am indeed very blessed to have received this wonderful book by the author.

Release day Blitz-The Prelude by KaSonndra Leigh

Print Length:329 pages
Series: The musical interlude series
Genre: New Adult / Contemporary Romance
Edition Language: English
Publication date:3rd July, 2013

"The Prelude is the part of a song that pulls you in, hypnotizing you with beauty."

After finishing design school six months ago, Erin Angelo left her tragic past behind in the States and started a new life in Milan, Italy. Burying the grief, silencing her demons, and living a life without any real attachments has worked well for her so far. But when Erin secures her first real job as a budding clothing designer, her controlled world is shaken to its core by the mysteriously sexy director of the local symphony.

Alek Dostov is a man who knows what he wants and how to get it. He's successful, hot, the son of a millionaire, and women all over the world flock to see one of his performances. For Alek, Erin represents the ultimate challenge: sexy, smart, and unaffected by his charms...or so she thinks. Just like Erin, Alek avoids attachments that leave him emotionally vulnerable. But unlike Erin, his pursuit of all things pleasurable is ruthless.

Knowing how wary they both are concerning any kind of committed relationship, Alek finds a way to pursue Erin, satisfying the intense attraction between them without sacrificing the freedom they both enjoy. Sometimes the deepest passion brings out the darkest emotions. And Erin finds herself completely unprepared for the forbidden world of the young maestro and his truths and even his secrets, as she struggles to deal with her own.

Music, passion, betrayal and forbidden love spun together in one of the most romantic cities in the world.

**This novel contains intense sexual situations and mature language. It is intended for an audience at 18+ years of age.**

Alek is used to getting his way with women.  I probably let him go a little further than I should've done the night of the showing; but hell, I am human and my body has needs. Okay, so we know he has confidence down, and he's damn good with his hands.
But what about the rest of his package?
Can he move that sexy body of his the way I suspect he can?
Well, I guess we'll find out. Choosing one of Milan’s largest nightclubs turns out to be a great idea according to Alek. I’m surprised, but then, not really. There’s this surreal battle going on between us. You know the kind, the type where either one or the both of us will give in to whatever this thing is that we’re feeling for each other. And not even the heated atmosphere of the wildest and most controversial club in Milan can do a thing to hinder the outcome.
“You’ll beg me to kiss you before it’s all said and done,” he told me a few nights ago.
“We’ll see who begs who first, won’t we, Mr. Sexy as Hell?” I lead him to the center of the dance floor. The beat is a thumping disco tune that drives through every part of my body. It is so not helping me to gain the lead in this battle. I turn around, lift my arms and make the first move. “Show me what you got, Mr. Maestro.”
“We’re on, Erin Angelo.”
So arrogant. So sexy. Dangerous is the word I think I’m looking for and hooked is the one I’ll do anything to avoid. Alek moves close to me, his body grinding against my hips. He’s in no way shy about letting me feel how hard he has become. I’m instantly taken aback to that place from a week or so ago, the one where he gave me an orgasm that turned me into a puddle of ooze. Moving back, he takes my hand, laces his fingers with mine and begins moving to the beat.
Holy hell. I’m so in trouble. A guy who can dance like this… Let me repeat it for you, you’re so in trouble, Angelo.
Part of me feels all bubbly inside while the other half is terrified because now Alek’s arms have circled my body. We’re grinding and jerking to a beat that I swear was created just for sex. The words “bang, bang, shot you dead” blast through the speakers. It’s a tune called “Gang Bang” where the singer essentially says she killed her lover because she’s afraid of falling for him, but she used sex instead of a gun to do it. The meaning behind the lyrics hits too close to home to even think about.
The club spins. This man intoxicates me. Everything about him oozes sex. He’s passing the damn can-he-move test and shooting me dead with desire at the same time.

Author Bio

Author of the Lost Immortals Saga and the Path Seekers Series. I’m also a mother, blogger, reader, gardener, home renovator, and a slayer of undead Egyptian mummies in Tomb Raider. I believe in karma, coffee, and seriously wish that the producers of Xena would bring my favorite show ever back.

I was born in the race-car city of Charlotte, NC, and now live in the City of Alchemy and Medicine, NC, when I’m not hanging out in Bardonia (Lost Immortals). Most of my characters are based on people that I’ve met throughout my travels and adventures. People tend to stop and start conversations with me as if I’ve known them my entire life. Does this freak me out? Not really. My mom says that one day I’ll get kidnapped by one of them. I told her that if it weren’t for these lovely people then I wouldn’t be able to create the stories that I do.

Some other common tidbits…hmm. I’ve watched the movie Under the Tuscan Sun almost 200 times. Seriously, the way I see it is if I keep watching it enough, then suddenly the house that Diane Lane lives in will magically appear in my backyard. I know. I have a huge imagination!

Book Description

What comes to your mind when you see that phrase? A reunion with a former lover? A shocking encounter with a dark face from your past? A dearly held memory come to life . . . or one you’ve tried desperately to purge from your mind?

In this extraordinary collection of original fiction, sixteen great storytellers spin the tales that filled their imaginations when considering that sentence:

New York Times bestselling author Allison Brennan brings us the reunion of father and daughter under deadly circumstances.
USA Today bestselling author Janet Tronstad weaves a tale of lost love on a Christmas Eve during the Great Depression.
New York Times bestselling author Alyssa Day traverses realities to pull together generations.
USA Today bestselling author Kathryn Shay returns to her Hidden Cove series to tell of a father returning to his son’s life . . . and turning that life upside down.

Romance, suspense, and magic, secrets unearthed, mysteries revealed, and promises finally kept all of this and much, much more comes to you in this unforgettable anthology that is every bit as evocative as the title that served as its inspiration.

My review:

I never thought I'd see you is a collection of  prompt  short stories that tempted me a lot into reading the book last week. Due to my large TBR list I had to postpone it  for the time
being. I  was  very desperate to read this book as the title was very intriguing and also I love short stories. The advantage of reading short stories is that  if one story is bad it doesn't mean all the other stories  also  have to be bad and you don't have to be disappointed by the whole book.

Since all the stories  were  written by different authors, I had no expectations,  only curious to know what I would  find in the next story. It was a pleasant surprise that all the stories were  well  written in a manner that inspired me a lot.I cannot really point out which story I liked the most. There were stories which I hadn't anticipated it to end the way it did.

The first story had so much potential of becoming into a full length novel. I would have liked the story to continue. It was about a father and a  daughter relationship. All the characters were well portrayed in this  particular story.

Facing the mirror was a story which seemed as if it was  real. It has succeeded in delivering the anxieties and real emotions of a cancer patient. After reading it,  I had a feeling that a person who is diagnosed with cancer would react the same way as Maggie did. Janet Trotstad's Christmas Eve and Peresphone's granddaugter by Alyssa day was also my favorites.

In one particular story, I lost all my patience, so I flipped through the pages to find out the ending. It was Solomon's Paradox by Kelly Mcclymer. I didn't get this story right when I initially began reading it .I have to appreciate the author for writing this  extraordinary story because I found this story to be very different and very  likeable.

Overall, I would say this book was interesting to read. I enjoyed reading all the stories but only half of the stories made it to my most favorite list. I don't have anything to criticize about the other half but it's just that the stories weren't impressive as I thought it would be.

My review

There are certain books out there,  you just don't want the story to get rid off your mind so that it can remain with you for some more time. I had the same feeling when I finished reading this wonderful novel by Shantel Tessier. I would also say I had a mixed feeling towards the novel. I t was hanging somewhere in the middle of whether to like or not like(because of Slade).

It was nice reading it in the beginning .I just wanted to lose myself in the novel. At the same time, I would've liked the story to be somewhat different. I liked Samantha. She was  so perfect in all the right places. She is kind, pretty, caring and also independent. After Jax left her, She could have had any man(I mean Good man) she want ,instead she chose Slade.I  swear I didn't really like her being with him after she split from her ex. When she first met him, she was very hard on him. I would have liked her to remain like that for few more chapters.

There could be only two good reason why I don't want Samantha anywhere near him. 1) He treats women like shit  2) and also sleeps with different women daily as if he is going to get a trophy for that. Okay, he is handsome, I mean very handsome. But she is nothing like all the other women who fawned over him. Slade may be drop dead gorgeous but he even  knows he is not the best match for her. As he himself calls her Angel(always), what does that make him ?Other than this, I have to say I couldn't deny enjoy reading the novel even for a bit.

I felt very sorry for Samantha when she reveals her mother disowned her for 12 million dollars. I didn't really care about her mother  as there were so many other things to worry about. There is something that grabbed my attention in the latter part of the novel.  Suddenly, her mother reappears into her life after so many years have passed. I must really say this. I neither expected her to return nor I expected her to explain herself for the things she did.

On the whole, I had many issues with Slade and as for Samantha, I just loved her with all my heart. My favorite characters after Samantha is a Couple, Slade's brother Micah and his girlfriend, Holly. Holly is very luck to have him as her boyfriend. I wish every men in the world are like him. I also loved Josh and Courtney. If I have to sum up the novel into one sentence, I would say Love is truly blind. If you don't believe me, read this amazing novel and tell me what you think.
Expectations: In her upcoming novels, I would appreciate if she could reduce the drunk scenes by the female leads. It doesn't feel good to see them helpless and very dependent on others. And also I would like some character explanation because in this novel, I was able to understand and connect with everyone except Slade. I wanted more explanation from him as why Samantha was different and also very important to him than all the other girls.

Promo blitz-Just my luck by Rosalind James

It feels so good to participate in the promo blitz of Just my luck by yet another wonderful author Rosalind James. The below are the details of her book.

Paperback:396 pages
Series: Escape to New Zealand #5
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Date Published:13th July, 2013

Book Description
A little distraction can be a wonderful thing.
Nate Torrance has a job to do, and the biggest rugby boots in the world to fill. He can’t afford to lose his focus, especially not to a brown-eyed Canadian who pushes all his buttons and looks much too good in a climbing harness.
Allison Villiers may not know what she wants to do with her life, but she’s clear about one thing. She’s not impressed by the new captain of the All Blacks, however big a deal he is to the rest of New Zealand. If only her unfortunate taste for adventure didn’t keep leading her astray . . .

“How are you finding Wellington so far?” Nate asked when they were out on the water. He’d managed to launch them from the beach with a shove, and even climb in again behind her without any mishaps.
Ally was actually a little sorry. She’d been half-anticipating going over, and enjoying the prospect of teasing him about it. He definitely needed it.
“I love it,” she said, keeping up a steady stroke and feeling the calm that always came over her when she was surrounded by sea and sky, enjoying the effort, the rhythmic motion. She was going to be out here with him for a while, so she might as well keep this pleasant.

She didn’t even have to look at him, after all. You couldn’t really turn around in a double kayak without tipping the thing, which was probably for the best in this case.

“I’ve been wandering around getting happily lost, and finding my way home again. It’s a lively place, isn’t it? Lots of outdoor stuff to do too, and as you know, that’s my favorite thing.”
“It can get a bit wet and windy,” he cautioned.
“I’ve heard,” she said, unable to keep the amusement from her voice. “I’ve had a few discussions about the weather already, you see.”
She heard him groan. “I’m rubbish at chatting girls up,” he admitted, surprising a laugh from her. “I never know what to say. Everything’s either dull, or it sounds like a pickup line. I generally end up opting for dull.”
“Honesty works, though,” she told him. “That was pretty good right there.”
“Really.” He sounded surprised. “I should throw myself on your mercy, you think?”
“Definitely. A strong man being endearingly awkward . . . I like it. It’s an approach, anyway.”
“Better than spilling a beer on her, I reckon,” he said.
“Much better." She realized that she was paddling along with a smile on her face. Why hadn’t she met this guy before? She liked him.
“I’ll try again, then,” he said. “Did you spend Christmas here as well, on the Coromandel?”
“No, in Auckland. And it rained one day, but otherwise the weather was good. Just to anticipate you.”
He laughed. “Do anything special?”
“I did, actually. I bungy jumped off the Sky Tower. Kristen’s Christmas present.”
“Crikey. This is me shuddering back here."
“No, really?” she asked in surprise. “It was amazing. You should try it.”
“I’ll take your word for it,” he decided.
“You don’t like thrills?”
“I love thrills. Know how to get them, too. And it’s not by jumping off buildings.”
Wow. She didn’t think she’d pursue that one. Maybe he meant rugby. Yeah, right. He hadn’t meant rugby.

My review

This book is a must read for all those people who are thinking about starting their own business concern or have started it but are struggling to taste success. It is definitely worth buying. There are many great tricks and tips to learn from it. Even for a person who doesn't know much about business, this will be a complete learning guide. In terms of language, it is simple and well written. The author's  intellectual ability will amuse readers of all sorts.

The introduction begins with the author quitting his job as a Management Consultant at Deloitte to start his own energy efficiency business where people can save their electricity usage, gas usage, get relevant tips, and save energy as a community.

It began well but drastically failed in the year , 2010,  when Microsoft Hohm which also had the same idea as his but focused on saving an individual's energy failed two years later. This failure made him to think deeper and deeper, why the business was a total failure.

His idea was new and very innovative, if the consumers had found it useful, there would be surprisingly a reduced carbon emissions in the environment. The answer to their failure was simple as this. They focused on innovation from the perspective of technology rather than finding out how the customer would experience that technology.

After researching, he found a nine factor customer experience framework which can be applied to almost all industries .These include price, availability, service, quality, fashion, social responsibility, brand, etc. He has also discussed it in detail  in the seven chapter book to help all the budding entrepreneurs.

Shift: Innovation that disrupts markets topless giants and makes you #1 is not really a book to skim through. There is so much to learn from it. We can learn about poor customer experience, some of the examples might even feel like we have experienced it before.

Inside the book we can find many elaborate details of successful companies with numerous charts and figures and the reason to why they all succeeded. Blockbuster, Netflix, Redbox, Amazon, Fab are some of the notable companies that are worth mentioning from the book.

It also covers most of the industries and  has amazing facts  about the companies we deal with our day-to-day life. Healthcare,  pharmaceutical, Airline and Online industries are just to name a few.

The answer to the big question, why customers chose a particular company to satisfy their needs and wants rather than from its competitors is stated in the book.

The source to those websites in which the author got the information he needed can be found under the respective pages which gives the readers to search it later on the internet for more details.

All business students and aspiring business owners should get this book to have a thorough knowledge of innovation and customer experience because the final chapter deals with the overview of  how to deliver a best-in class customer experience.

Verdict: I highly recommend this book. Never think too much to buy a book as good as this. You can learn everything you want in order to run a successful business concern in this competitive world.

Rating 4.5/5

Excerpts from the book

If Nintendo has asked how they would like to play video games , they would have inevitably received responses  involving joysticks or game controllers. This is because the majority of the customers  are not visionary, and the current products are their framework of reference; So for them it is  very difficult to break away and think of something that is completely disruptive.

Shifting the market by delivering best-in-class experience on the requirements factor is very powerful, as it awards the innovator who delivers such an experience with significant market share.

It is not just good ratings, but bad reviews that go viral in today's hyper-connected world, and that could potentially hurt your brand.

Innovators without brand value struggle to win customers, who will always doubt the innovator's ability to meet their needs.
